What rug is best for your horse?

Horse Rug

With so many different types of horse rugs available at FALPRO, it can be difficult to decide which is best for your horse. Here is a guide to all the horse rugs available at FALPRO now.

Rug warmth is categorised into three different weights:

  • Lightweight – FALPRO lightweight turnout rugs are between 50g - 100g where the weight is calculated by the number of grams of fibrefill per square metre. These rugs can be combined with liners of different weights to cope with changing weather conditions

  • Medium Weight – Our FALPRO mediumweight turnout rugs have a fill of between 200g and 300g (grams of fibre fill per square metre). Adding a FALPRO liner to these rugs will help with changing weather conditions.

  • Heavyweight – A FALPRO heavyweight turnout rug will keep your horse warm this winter.  The fibrefill is between 350g and 450g (grams of fibrefill per square metre). These can also be combined with liners of different weights to cope with changing weather conditions

Different styles of rugs are also available in stable rugs. :

  • Lightweight stable rugs - FALPRO stable rugs are designed to keep your horse warm when stabled, they are quilted and cosy for maximum comfort. Due to their lightweight material, they are best for warmer weather. Our stable rugs are not waterproof as not designed for outside use.

  • Mediumweight stable rugs - FALPRO stable rugs are designed to keep your horse warm when stabled, they are quilted and cosy for maximum comfort. Due to their heavier material these coats are better for when colder weather hits.
